Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) today announced 22 awards totaling $925,687 matched with $625,932 of non-federal funds for Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services Program Grants. IMLS received 36 applications requesting $1,686,001 in funds.

"The grants we’re awarding today are helping to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of Native peoples," said Susan Hildreth, IMLS Director. "Funded activities range from documenting traditional Hawaiian hat making to presenting Native language classes to building a wireless network. All of the projects are helping to sustain the legacy of Native Americans and Native Hawaiians."
