Papa Ola Lokahi

Log Number: NH-252445-OLS-22

Papa Ola Lokahi will establish a Native Hawaiian health archive to address the current lack of record preservation pertaining to Native Hawaiian health, traditional Hawaiian healing, health policy, health systems, and medicine in Hawaii. The foundational collection for this project will include digitizing the numerous records, personal accounts, annotations, reports, letters, notes, publications, and images from Dr. Kekuni Blaisdell’s family. Dr. Blaisdell was a visionary and pioneer in the Hawaiian health arena, leaving behind an extensive and rich collection that will benefit others for years to come. The project team will create a website to display digitized scans and make them available for public use. This project will become an essential resource and repository of knowledge and will benefit not just Native Hawaiians in professional fields, but all Native Hawaiians looking to learn more about the history of Native Hawaiian health.
