Papahana Kuaola
Log Number: NG-04-17-0217-17
Papahana Kuaola (PK) will implement the Maka'ika'i Mele a Mo'olelo (Song and Story Tour) project, which is designed to increase interest in reading through understanding and appreciation of traditional Hawaiian literature and the places to which they are connected. Three hundred students and teachers, along with 320 community members from Kupuna (elders) service agencies and programs, will be served through mo‘olelo/mele tours. Through the ‘Ohana Mo‘olelo Community Program, 50 families or an estimated 250 parents and children will be served on O'ahu, Moloka'i, and Lanai. Learning opportunities will nurture understanding, interest, and appreciation for the mo‘olelo and mele left by ancestors and give educators alternatives for teaching materials and educational opportunities that may have previously been out of reach.
