Papahana Kuaola

The project of Papahana Kuaola will provide Native Hawaiian students effective literacy opportunities that are culture-based and responsive to their learning styles. The project target students, teachers, and community members on the islands of Oahu, Molokai and Lanai to increase interest in reading through understanding and appreciation of traditional Hawaiian literature. Through sharing mo'olelo (stories) on a fieldtrip experience, participants will learn about the natural, cultural, and historical sites on these islands. A student reader will be developed to support and guide this learning experience.
