Swinomish Indian Tribal Community

The Susan Wilbur Early Education Center of the Swinomish Tribe in La Conner, Washington will continue to build its book collection, with a focus on stories that highlight both modern and traditional Native and Indigenous lives, values, and perspectives, and books authored and/or illustrated by Native creators. The center will host events for families and community members. The center will host Native storytellers or speakers on a variety of topics of interest in the community, or lead workshops in temporary makerspaces, as possible to source local experts and speakers. Events may highlight topics such as nutrition, wildcrafting/gathering, DIY food preservation, traditional crafts, and climate change and resiliency.
