Tolowa Dee-ni Nation

The Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation will develop programming and staff training focused on expanding the Nation’s existing Tr’aa-may-dvn Xweenish (Living Plant Library). The project will increase propagated species diversity and quantities, install interpretive and educational signage on nursery grounds, support the Nation’s Xaa-wan’-k’wvt Cheetne’ Tetlh-tvm’ (Howonquet Head Start Food Forest) and other community-based garden sites, and increase involvement with neighboring community organizations seeking to improve access to native plants for gathering, sustenance, and habitat restoration. The Nation’s Living Plant Library serves as an educational outlet for citizens and community members to congregate and learn or re-learn practices of plant care, propagation, and utilization. The project will provide direct benefit to the tribal citizens within its service area.
