Hampton University (Hampton University Museum)

The Hampton University Museum will increase the visibility and accessibility of the African Art Collection by implementing the next phase of its collection management software project. A Collections Data Manager will be hired to work with museum staff and paid interns to manage the process of moving from a paper-based record keeping system to an efficient, updated digital system. Project activities include conducting a full inventory of the African collection, photographing individual items, scanning curatorial records, adding data and records to the collections management system, and creating two online exhibitions. As a result, the museum will have the ability to share collections online, while keeping data safe and secure, and accessible for educators, students, other museum professionals, and the public.
