African American Museum in Philadelphia
Log Number: MH-253398-OMS-23
The African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) will research, design and install a permanent, interactive exhibition telling a more comprehensive history of African Americans. The new exhibit builds upon “Audacious Freedom” which focuses on the period 1776-1876 by extending the timeline to the present day. Guided by historical research, expert consultants along with focus group input will inform the development of new content and the selection of artifacts. A curriculum guide for middle-school students will be created for the School District of Philadelphia during school time and the Free Library of Philadelphia for out-of-school time. AAMP will increase capacity to serve key with an inaugural exhibition that will open in its new home in time for AAMP’s 50th anniversary in 2026.
