Log Number: MH-253309-OMS-23
Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) will research, design, fabricate, and install exhibits that will interpret African Americans’ commitment to education as a civil right and the struggle for equality through the pursuit of education in northeastern North Carolina. The exhibits will be installed in a rehabilitated Rosenwald school building and Principal’s House, both built in 1922, which are now part of the ECSU campus. The exhibits will interpret the following themes: African American Education from Reconstruction to the Civil Rights Era; Rosenwald school building program; Teacher Education at Elizabeth City State Colored Normal School; and ECSU Rosenwald School Building History. Exhibit creation will include an educational component that will benefit ECSU faculty, library staff, and students who will develop skills related to researching and designing interpretive exhibits.
