The Meek-Eaton Southeastern Regional Black Archives Research Center and Museum (MEBA) at Florida A&M University will build its digital capacity by enhancing management, care, and access for its collections and expanding its public services. Project activities include hiring a full-time Project Archivist to assist with inventorying, accessioning, cataloging, and rehousing collections; creating and updating finding aids; creating a digital platform for public access; and hosting programs to introduce the public to new online methods for accessing the collections. Project funding will also enable MEBA to reactivate its student training program Inspiring Authorities in Museum Management. Paid internships for twelve students will provide training in archival management and digitization to support project activities. Through this project, MEBA will establish long-term archival management policies, expand the use of its collection by researchers, and build professional knowledge and networks for emerging professionals.
