Alabama Historical Commission (Freedom Rides Museum)

The Freedom Rides Museum will enhance its on-site visitor experience by creating a virtual reality experience for its vintage Greyhound Bus mobile museum. Museum staff will engage with a virtual reality consultant to conduct research and gather information, images, and video relevant to Freedom Riders’ experiences; develop a script; record video interviews with Freedom Riders and other stakeholders; conduct testing with stakeholders, scholars, and local students; and produce the experience for use on headsets inside the bus. This new immersive experience will leave visitors with a deeper appreciation for the historic place and inspire them to be proactively involved in their communities.
