Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture

The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture will expand collection storage and improve exhibition capacity through the installation of customized storage equipment and moveable, modular exhibition walls. Project activities include designing protocols for handling and moving the collection; developing a location record system aligned with new equipment to integrate into acquisition records; moving the collection to new art racks; and planning exhibitions using collection objects and the new temporary walls. This project will strengthen the center’s ability to fulfill its role as steward of its collections and support the highest quality interpretation of its collections. Both public and school audiences will benefit from new exhibitions and related programming and staff will benefit from greater ease of access to objects when developing exhibitions and programs.
