Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center
Log Number: MH-251716-OMS-22
The Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center will launch a fellowship program to support a pipeline for museum professionals for individuals from historically underrepresented communities. The center will recruit and hire a full-time executive director, who will provide oversight of the fellowship, including the onboarding, training, and mentorship of junior fellows. All fellows will participate in professional development and mentoring activities. Project results will include a curriculum to support the training of junior fellows and interns. An evaluation consultant will assess the project’s success and the center will produce a scholarly article detailing the findings from the project’s implementation. The project design accommodates the nuances and challenges of traditional entryways into and upward mobility within the museum profession for individuals from historically underrepresented communities.
