Shaw University (James E. Cheek Learning Resources Center)

Log Number: MH-249629-OMS-21

The James E. Cheek Learning Resources Center—the library at Shaw University—will provide paid internships in a project-based archive and digitization experience for a graduate student from the School of Library and Information Science at North Carolina Central University and two undergraduate students from Shaw University. Project activities include developing a traveling exhibition in collaboration with two other HBCUs, creating training modules for student interns, and cataloging and digitizing collections. The project will result in improved physical organization of the Library's archives, enhanced access to the collection online, and increased capacity to host future exhibitions, displays and cultural events. The project will provide critical work study opportunities for students that may lead to archive, museum and library professionals and provide valuable work experience and professional development for a graduate intern and future library professional.
