Weeksville Heritage Center
Log Number: MH-249403-OMS-21
The Weeksville Heritage Center will develop and implement an Asset Preservation and Management Plan for the historic Hunterfly Road houses, structures built between 1840 and 1880 by free black settlers in what is modern-day Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The project will address architectural, structural, and mechanical issues identified in a recently completed Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) building survey that identified risks to the landmark houses and the archaeological and archival collections. The Preservation Manager, supported by student Research Assistants, will incorporate comprehensive, practical, and cost-effective preservation solutions for the buildings. Project results include the installation and training on new preventative maintenance software and environmental monitoring equipment, as well as updating housekeeping plans and maintenance manuals, collection management plans and emergency management plans.
