The DuSable Museum will develop and implement audience engagement strategies surrounding its new permanent exhibition, "Freedom, Resistance, and the Journey Towards Equality." Following the recommendations of a recent Museum Assessment Program (MAP) Community Engagement report, the museum seeks to better understand and engage with younger and more diverse audiences. Using the catalyst of a new permanent exhibition, the museum will conduct an assessment of potential new audiences and implement new strategies to attract them to the museum. The project will have the potential to change public perceptions of the museum as well as attitudes about the museum's relevance in the lives of its visitors. The DuSable Museum will be better equipped to maintain relevance within Chicago's artistic and cultural landscape by creating and deploying new tools to better understand potential audiences.
