Robbins House
Log Number: MH-00-15-0003-15
The Robbins House will create new interpretive and educational programs focused upon the first generation of free African Americans living in Concord. A scholar-in-residence historian will be hired to research the archives and collections; update reference documents used by tour guides; and assist in the creation of two characters, played by re-enactors, to portray one male and one female resident of the Robbins House. The project will benefit over 5,000 visitors to the Robbins House who will participate in demonstrations and activities highlighting labor and education in the 19th century. In addition, the scholar-in-residence will update and publish "Concord and Its Black History," which tells the story of the inhabitants of the Robbins House in the larger context of the early experiences of Africans in Concord.
