Newfields

Newfields will develop a professional development program and concurrent 12-month fellowship program in the museum's Conservation Department that leverages conservation and collections care as equity practices. Project activities include engaging a training consultant who will work with the project team to design a new staff training program; development of decision-making frameworks that mitigate bias in preservation practice; implementing new staff training; and recruiting and onboarding a new graduate fellow. The project will develop guidelines to equitably inform collections care decisions, adopt effective mentorship strategies to cultivate the next generation of conservators, and help the museum achieve diversity, equity, inclusion, and access institutional goals.
