Michigan Department of Natural Resources (Michigan History Museum)

The Michigan History Center will undertake a comprehensive, three-year project to integrate evaluation into the daily work of exhibit and engagement staff. The museum is expanding the way it tells Michigan history to include the stories of the state's diverse communities, but currently lacks the data and skills to assess this transformation. Project activities will include gathering data about the museum's audiences and their needs, hiring an evaluator to train staff in evaluation skills, holding workshops with experts, and building a prototyping space in the permanent galleries. Museum staff will learn how to measure success based on the feedback of its visitors.
