Fire Museum of Texas

The Fire Museum of Texas will improve the care and preservation of its collections by purchasing and installing a high density, custom-designed shelving unit system. In response to a collections stewardship assessment through the Museum Assessment Program, the museum will address both the organization of its storage areas and the environmental conditions affecting its collections. The museum will replace wooden and industrial metal shelving with the new storage system. A part-time internship position will be established to assist the museum manager during the process of moving, inventorying, and rehousing the collection. The new storage system will minimize the risk of damage to the collections and maximize the museum's limited storage area.
