University of Montana (University of Montana Herbarium)

The University of Montana Herbarium will partner with the Montana Natural Heritage Program to digitize moss specimen labels and georeference their locations in order to make the data more widely available. The herbarium's staff will process the specimens to prepare them for digitization and georeferencing. The data will then be shared with the MT Natural Heritage statewide database, its website applications, and a variety of on-line herbaria portals including the Consortium of Pacific Northwest Herbaria and Consortium of North American Bryophyte Herbaria websites. The project will make moss species data available to bryologists, natural resource managers, and other scientists who use it for management, planning, research, and environmental impact analysis projects.
