The Shelburne Museum will undertake a condition survey and conservation needs assessment of 313 printed works of art on paper in its collections. The museum's conservator will work with two local paper conservators who will conduct the survey in two three-day visits to the museum. The survey data, once uploaded into the museum's collections management database, will facilitate planning for future exhibitions and collections conservation budgeting. Following the survey, the three conservators will collaborate on a report that summarizes the state of the collection surveyed and its conservation needs. An eight-week paid internship will provide a student the opportunity to work with the senior registrar to conduct data clean up and take new record images for the collections management database. The project will improve the museum's in-house digital paper condition survey form and help inform future collection condition surveys and conservation needs assessment projects involving outside conservators.
