Lake Region Heritage Center
Log Number: MA-31-17-0507-17
In partnership with 30 collecting institutions and other organizations, the Lake Region Heritage Center will assume a leadership role in organizing disaster preparedness and response planning activities. The museum will conduct a risk assessment, develop a disaster preparedness and response plan for its facility, and work with two consulting conservators and regional emergency managers to host trainings and drills. The training sessions will benefit area museums, libraries, archives, cultural and historic institutions, first responders, and emergency managers responsible for counties and tribal entities living around Devils Lake. Project activities will include building an emergency supply cache, creating a next-steps list with the consultants, and hosting a weekly post-training chat session for participants. The museum will also purchase a large mutual emergency supply depot to be stored at its site and work to improve the Mutual Aid Network of cultural institutions in rural North Dakota.
