University of Rochester (Memorial Art Gallery)

The Memorial Art Gallery at the University of Rochester will implement the second phase of an institution-wide storage renovation project to improve care for its collections and increase access for both staff and the public. The museum will rehouse 2,500 small objects, sculptures, and artifacts by installing a custom high-density mobile storage system. The project team will research and update the cataloging information for objects that are currently not accessible via the museum's website. The project will also complete an ongoing initiative to link digital photographs of each object to catalog records that will be accessible online. The new system will store newly housed objects, increase the staff's ability to access works safely and with minimal handling, and provide for increased growth of the collection.
