University of Vermont (University of Vermont Natural History Museum)

The University of Vermont Natural History Museum will implement improvements in collections documentation and storage systems to enhance access to its collections for researchers and the public. The museum will install compactors to house existing cabinets and a back-up climate monitoring system to provide better protection for the specimens. The museum will also inventory and catalog its taxidermy bird and mammal mounts and egg and mollusk collections. The catalog records and associated images will be accessible online in Symbiota/iDigBio. The project will enable the museum to access space for a dedicated public gallery while accommodating growth in its collections as well as providing a foundation to support future conservation needs.
