St. Olaf College (Flaten Art Museum, St. Olaf College)
Log Number: MA-30-19-0637-19
The Flaten Art Museum at St. Olaf College will contract with external conservators to perform conservation treatments to extend the life of 21 culturally and historically significant German propaganda posters and broadsides from World War II. This team will also photograph and create high resolution images of each poster for sharing online and frame the posters for exhibition and safe storage. The museum's participation in the Collections Assessment for Preservation program identified these materials as the institution's highest priority conservation need. A conservator who specializes in paper preservation will present at the museum about the conservation treatment. The project will make these historical resources discoverable and freely available to students, as well as researchers, scholars, and the general public.
