Chrysler Museum of Art
Log Number: MA-30-19-0570-19
The Chrysler Museum of Art will improve storage conditions and accessibility for its small- and medium-sized paintings by creating a more functional workspace. Project activities will include the temporary relocation of works in the painting storage area, removal of old storage units, the installation of new racks and storage systems, and rehousing works in the new storage area. The museum will purchase painting storage systems that will enhance security and accessibility for the paintings. The project will improve the museum's ability to observe, assess, and prioritize works for potential conservation and stabilization treatment; detect and record condition changes to works of art and their frames through regular conservation assessments; allow for greater visibility and minimize vibrations so that movement will not endanger the art; and benefit scholarly study.
