Yale University (Peabody Museum of Natural History)
Log Number: MA-30-18-0459-18
The Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University will conserve and rehouse a portion of its archaeological collections from North, Central, and South America to ensure their long-term preservation, increase their use in the museum's exhibition and education programs, and enhance their research potential for scholars studying ancient people and environments. The museum will pack the artifacts and move them from an existing, overcrowded, and substandard storeroom in the Peabody Museum to the university's conservation lab, where staff will create storage mounts for those requiring support. The museum will purchase and install new cabinets and shelving in a completely renovated anthropology storeroom equipped with environmental controls and a 24-hour monitored security system. The project team will inventory, clean, conserve, photograph, and rehouse the collections before moving them to the new location.
