Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County will improve the preservation of its Invertebrate Paleontology and Malacology Type Collections and increase their accessibility to researchers, volunteers, museum staff, and students. The museum will inventory the entire Type Collections; rehouse all specimens into new, updated cabinets and new, archival boxes and vials; and digitally catalog and photograph all specimens. As part of the digitization process, the museum will share the specimen data and photographs through its website as well as online biological data repositories. Museum staff will lead the project activities, along with multiple undergraduate student collections assistants and volunteers and an assistant collections manager to be hired for the project.
