Boston Athenaeum
Log Number: MA-30-18-0320-18
The Boston Athenum will catalog posters from the Richard W. Cheek World War II Graphic Arts Collection, which documents the role domestic propaganda played in evolving civilian and military perceptions of World War II. The museum will hire a full-time visual materials cataloger to create the metadata needed for the discoverability of the digital images and work with other members of the project team to process the collection of 1,959 posters. The Massachusetts hub of the Digital Public Library of America will contribute its facility, equipment, and expertise to digitize the posters. Ongoing access to the material will be provided through inventories, finding aids, in-depth catalog records, widely available digital surrogates, exhibitions, and publications.
