Harvard University (Mineralogical and Geological Museum at Harvard University)

The Mineralogical and Geological Museum at Harvard University will upgrade the data management and physical storage of its Earth History Archive collections to align them with the institutional collections management policy and related standard procedures. The museum will hire a temporary collections assistant with geological knowledge to assist staff with the cataloging, inventorying, and rehousing of the collections. The project team will improve the physical storage of the collections by purchasing heavy metal drawers to rehouse the 114,000 specimens from their current cardboard boxes. Project activities will also include expanding existing and creating new records in the internal database and sharing the resulting object metadata with researchers and educators via the museum's accessible database and other publicly available digital catalogs.
