Log Number: MA-30-18-0240-18
The Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, University of Michigan, will enhance the health and productivity of its living plant collections by implementing improvements in environmental controls for its conservatory. The garden will purchase and install a variety of equipment, including climate sensors, side vents, and circulation fans, to support the coordinated management of temperature, light, and humidity. Project activities will also include the installation of new conservatory plants as outlined in an updated collections plan, and the installation of new interpretive signs, maps, and other materials. The project will allow the conservatory to feature conservation themes in three distinct biomes (tropical, temperate and desert) that approach the taxonomic complexity seen in nature.
