City of Longmont (Longmont Museum)

The Longmont Museum will relocate and rehouse a collection of 12,000 objects from a temporary storage location to a new collections storage facility. The collections include furniture, vehicles, tools, ceramic and glassware, jewelry, business equipment, appliances, toys, and product packages. During the first year of the three-year project, the museum will purchase and install new storage equipment and move palletized and packed collections into the space in phases. Subsequent years of the project will focus on unpacking the collections, rehousing them in the new storage equipment, and updating the museum's collections management database. The work will be completed by current staff members and one full-time staff position employed for one year. Once the collections are accessible again, they will be utilized in exhibitions and research, benefiting both internal museum staff and all of the museum's audiences.
