Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts will implement and evaluate a project designed to engage wide-reaching community participation to activate prominent public spaces with art at six sites in and around its campus in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood. A curatorial council composed of community members will solicit and select participating artists through surveys and open calls, and the project team will develop related programming and interactive activities. Project staff will also evaluate the program, with the goal of sharing project results as a model for how to support community-led public art and accompanying programming in settings where residents can safely gather, engage, and connect, and learn from the works, artists, and one another.
