Portland Art Museum

The Portland Art Museum will reimagine its permanent collection galleries and support collaborations between staff, artists, and community partners, with the goal of building staff skills and capacity in community- and artist-centered programming. Project funds will support a series of facilitated strategic discussions between staff members and consultants; hiring a dedicated project coordinator; hosting listening sessions with community partners, artists, and other collaborators; and the formation of a working group of external partners and staff members to lead the development and execution of a pilot collection-exhibition. As a result, museum staff will build shared understanding around reciprocal collaborative practices and learn strategies to embrace a new methodology for future gallery installations.
