Saint Louis Zoo

The Saint Louis Zoo will establish a second biobanking location at the Zoo’s WildCare Park to ensure the establishment of a collection of genetically significant and valuable specimens for reproductive research and management of animals at the park. Once completed, it will allow the zoo to expand participation in conservation and recovery programs for endangered ungulate species, such as banteng and addax. As a result of the project, biomaterials will be available for research, propagation, and conservation purposes to other organizations, such as zoos and universities.
