Clockshop
Log Number: MA-252994-OMS-23
Clockshop will engage in a cultural asset mapping process to document the diverse and changing neighborhoods near the site of a planned 18-acre state park in northeastern Los Angeles. The project team will gather oral histories, write neighborhood narratives, capture professional photographic imagery, and produce mini documentaries to record underrepresented cultural practices, personal histories, and lived experiences of local working-class communities of color. Clockshop will hire a full-time community programs manager and will engage artists, program facilitators, language interpreters, and a project archivist to produce the bilingual cultural asset map as well as support public programs and temporary public art projects. A neighborhood advisory council comprised of community members will inform strategic planning and programming, while ongoing collaboration with California State Parks will result in the integration of these communities’ stories and cultures into the interpretation of the future park.
