Peralta Hacienda Historical Park
Log Number: MA-252124-OMS-22
Peralta Hacienda Historical Park will design, fabricate, and install new interpretive exhibits about the Ohlone, the original people in the Huchiun area where the park stands today. Exhibits will weave together the history of the landowning Peralta family with that of the Indigenous workers on the Spanish and Mexican-era rancho, and their past and current presence in the region. Museum staff will work with Ohlone artists and designers to finalize designs and fabricate and install interpretive elements, including objects, sculptures, videos, text, and images. The museum will incorporate new research to revise, field-test, and launch its school field trip program to better reflect Indigenous and Latinx community voices. The exhibits are designed to help Indigenous groups understand and celebrate their own cultures, while helping non-Natives learn about Indigenous history and its impact on the region today.
