Portland Art Museum
Log Number: MA-252049-OMS-22
The Portland Art Museum will produce the exhibition Black Artists of Oregon, which will highlight and celebrate the work of Black artists, including works in the museum’s permanent collection that have been historically under-exhibited and under-researched. The museum will engage a guest curator and the exhibition will build upon both her lived experience and her research exploring the lineage and legacy of Black artists in Oregon and the impact, history, and presence of Black artists and arts collectives in the region. A catalog will accompany the installation, and a series of public programs and community partnerships will highlight the featured artists’ contributions to the region and the nation. Programs will include documenting and distributing oral histories through videos and podcasts, artist studio visits, and intergenerational artist conversations.
