Mackinac State Historic Parks

Mackinac State Historic Parks will conduct a physical inventory of the Mill Creek archaeological collection as well as artifacts from Michilimackinac, French Farm Lake, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, and Mackinac Island. The project represents the second phase of a larger inventory project designed to update all of the park’s collections database records. To facilitate this project, staff will hire and work with two full-time archaeology inventory assistants for three years to inventory, rehouse, and document objects in the collection. As a result of this project, the project team will be able to link artifacts to catalog records in the collections database, which will indicate the location of each object and provide greater access and use of the collection for exhibition and research purposes.
