Cooper Union (Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture)

The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union will catalog, digitize, and provide web-based access to its exhibitions collection. Encompassing 45 cubic feet of analog material and 3.23 TB of born-digital records, the collection documents the school’s diverse and influential program dating from the mid-1960s to the present, including 219 exhibitions and 32 publications. The project will advance the school’s strategic goal to foster and sustain a vigorous program of exhibitions and publications by establishing intellectual and physical control over the collection and archivally preserving the collection. It will also improve public access to the collection for architecture and design professionals, academic researchers, and the school’s students, faculty, and staff.
