The Denver Art Museum plans to implement critical environmental improvements in its storage area by installing 40 new storage screens for oversized, two-dimensional artworks. Department collections impacted by this project include Asian, Indigenous, Latin American, Modern and Contemporary, and Photography. The project concludes a year-long effort to complete museum-wide storage improvement. Over a 13-month period, the project includes pre-move inventory tasks, preparing artworks for screen storage, rehousing artworks on the new screens, creating new location systems for the improved storage area, and taking post-move inventories. Storage improvements will enhance access to artworks for the visiting public as well as for visiting researchers and resident artists. They also will increase efficiency in access and handling, increase capacity for onsite storage of oversized two-dimensional works, and accommodate growth of collections related to strategic priorities and curatorial directions.
