Historic Oakland Cemetery

The Historic Oakland Foundation will develop a program that enhances its diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) practice to better serve its surrounding community. The organization will engage a consultant to facilitate the project in three phases. The first phase will focus internally on staff, volunteers, and the Board to address challenges and opportunities, develop a deeper understanding of DEAI concepts, and establish a solid foundation on which to build a broader DEAI practice. The second and third phases will engage external stakeholders and the public to become an active part of the foundation’s organizational change. The foundation will develop new internal guidelines, a toolkit that can be shared with other organizations, and a fellowship program to introduce students from diverse backgrounds to museum careers.
