George Washington University (George Washington University Museum and Textile Museum)

The George Washington University Museum and Textile Museum, will expand access to its global cultural heritage collections by digitizing 4,000 textiles created in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The museum will make high-quality digital images and comprehensive object data available through its collections management system and its accompanying online portal, which will facilitate and improve collection access by the museum staff, faculty, students, and the public. The project also will share the collection through aggregator sites to expand discoverability of the collection. The museum will assemble a digitization team consisting of a professional photographer, as well as graduate student assistants who will gain experience working in a museum through object handling, cataloging, and dissemination activities.
