Green-Wood Cemetery
Log Number: MA-249376-OMS-21
The Green-Wood Cemetery will implement environmental education programming for middle school students in New York City, providing them with opportunities to learn how to address climate change. The program expands Green-Wood’s existing educational programming and brings outdoor, hands-on opportunities to learn about the environment to New York City students, with a special focus on South Brooklyn. The new educational programs will serve approximately 2,000 students per school year. Programs will focus on Ecosystems and Biodiversity: Pollinator Gardens; Climate Change: Green-Wood and the “Heat Island” Effect; and Evolution and Adaptation: Native and Invasive Species at Green-Wood. Green-wood plans to supplement visits to the museum with pre- and post-visit activities that teachers can use in their classrooms.
