Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) will develop the YBCA Civic Commons, a new model for participation in a museum setting designed to provide learning opportunities for diverse community members. The project will allow YBCA's lobby, plazas, and other communal areas to be welcoming, vibrant, and engaging spaces. Partners include Bay Area artists and creatives, San Francisco's Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs, and an extensive network of schools, community-based nonprofits, as well as other cross-sector collaborators. The YBCA Civic Commons will become a strong experiential learning and engagement model for cultural institutions, offering community members the tools they need to actively participate in our democracy.
