Minnesota Children's Museum

Minnesota children's Museum will create a new museum experience for their Creativity Jam Gallery, based on the principles of human-centered design. A multidisciplinary group of undergraduate students at the University of St. Thomas will explore how to create engaging, hands-on experiences for students and educators, with a focus on play. The students will engage in all aspects of the project, including training, prototyping, experience development, and evaluation. The museum will challenge them to approach problems with new perspectives and to create a meaningful, hands-on opportunity to employ what they learn. The project reflects a response to feedback from parenting adults who find a children's museum uninteresting, challenging, or stressful-despite the value they place on the experience for their children. The museum anticipates new insights into designing experiences that are more inviting to adults when visiting a children's museum.
