The California Indian Museum and Cultural Center will engage tribal representatives from the 23 Pomo tribes in the region and from other Pomo language programs to design and prototype language learning products, and to assess the current status of the seven Pomo languages. The museum's Tribal Youth Ambassadors will help develop and guide community members through nine language forums featuring experiential learning and community assessment activities. Forum participants will share ideas for using the museum's new Pomo apps and online course in different learning situations; discuss their interest in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) story maps for language learning; provide information on the current status of the languages; and conduct product assessment. Additionally, a guidebook for using the mobile apps and online course, a draft GIS story map of Pomo place names, and a Pomo language status report will be produced.
