Minneapolis Institute of Arts

The Minneapolis Institute of Fine Arts will create “Connecting Global Heritage with the New,” a program that will bring a diverse range of working artists to the museum for sustained interactions with the museum’s collection and will include new opportunities to involve the public. Using the museum’s intellectual and material resources, the artists in residence will create experimental installations and work with the community, to develop new ways of presenting and interpreting the permanent collection. The museum will produce materials including resources for educators; gallery brochures for museum visitors; and interactive technology tools for in-gallery use, such as mobile Web projects or applications. A Web presence for the Artist-in-Residency series will provide artists with online space for blogs, documenting their progress and artistic processes, and will include short video interviews with the artists discussing their work at the museum.
