Madison Children's Museum

Purpose: Serving as Centers of Community Engagement Madison children's Museum seeks to engage the community in developing an exhibit master plan for its proposed new building. An interdepartmental team will travel to respected childrens museums and meet with staff to raise team awareness of the latest in exhibition design and build a community of professional peers. The team will then translate this external inspiration to a regional application through a series of six community meetings, one for each proposed exhibit initiative of arts, culture, health, science, democracy, and early childhood education. Results of these meetings will be synthesized in a series of three exhibit planning retreats to develop and document specific exhibit ideas. A new Web site will solicit feedback on the plan from both the original meeting participants and a broader community of stakeholders.
